We're so thrilled to have Audrey, join the CommerceBear team as a Sr. Merchant Success Manager. She has a deep understanding of what it takes to drive revenue and will be working directly with our merchants to deliver the best experience the furniture industry has ever seen. We had the opportunity to chat with her to learn more! 

Welcome to the team! What are you most excited about as you join Bear?

I am most excited about collaborating with like-minded individuals and building the future of furniture! When it comes to consumer behaviour, we are in the midst of a generational shift as more people than ever are buying furniture online. Being a part of this accelerated shift into a digital-first industry with the Bear team is beyond exciting! ⚡️

What drew you to ecommerce in the first place?

It all started when a friend of mine needed help creating a product. At the time, I was at John Molson School of Business at Concordia University, studying Marketing. I was fascinated and intrigued by consumer behaviour, from buying motives to purchase intent. 

While helping my friend, the decision was made to sell his products online, which was my first real introduction to ecom. It was eye-opening learning how it worked on the business side vs. the consumer. Ultimately, this is what drove me to the world of ecommerce!

What personality trait do you feel is most important to merchant success?  

The merchant is always top of mind for me. I put myself in their shoes consistently, as I have been a merchant or consumer much like themselves at one point or another! 

Therefore the personality trait I feel is most imperative is EMPATHY. Offering genuine empathy leads to a great customer or merchant experience and can drive loyalty plus authentic long-term partnerships!

What advice would you give to someone starting out on your career path?

For anyone starting in my career, all I can say is constantly GROW. You can continue to learn no matter what stage of your career you are at. When you learn continuously, you gain more skills and become more of an expert in your realm. This is super important for those in ecommerce, as the industry is fast-paced and frequently changing! By always staying on top of what’s happening in the industry you'll have knowledge on your side and as the saying goes, knowledge is power!

What’s your ecommerce marketplace of choice? Any deep cuts you think people should know about? (Somebody had an obscure sneakers channel, etc)

The one marketplace I spend the most on is Amazon. I think it’s just that feeling you get when you receive that brown packaging so FAST! 

I already feel like I need something from Amazon but idk what it is.. 🤔

What’s your favourite piece of furniture?

I would say my standup desk because I use it every day! Since I got it, I’ve been able to adjust my routine between standing and sitting. I’ve definitely seen an improvement in my well-being and productivity. 

What’s your go-to downtime activity?

Being new to the city of Toronto, is so exciting! So I’ve been doing a lot of exploring and capturing moments with my Nikon. I’ve always been active all my life and soccer is my go-to sport so if I’m not on the pitch, you’ll find me at a welcoming and comfortable local coffee shop in the presence of a Chocolatine and a Cafe au Lait. ☕️
